Yusef Islam on Salman Rushdie

What hate can possibly fill the heart of a human being to such an extent that words on paper could provoke the wish that another human die a fiery death for writing them? In this video Yusef Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, is posed this question in regards to a hypothetical demonstration which involved the burning of an effigy of Salman Rushdie:

“Would you be part of that protest, Yusef Islam, would you go to a demonstration where you knew that an effigy was going to be burned?”

“I would have hoped that it would be the real thing.”

Where does that much hate come from??
Rumi was a muslim and Cat Stevens (or whatever his name is now) is a muslim too. Hafez was muslim and Osama Bin Laden is a Muslim…. What a strange spectrum….Is Muslim getting violent as it ages??
